چکیده

By the death of Sir Joseph Ewart, the Epidemiological Society has lost one who, during two successive years, (1890-91 and 1891-92) occupied its Presidential Chair, as well as many other distinguished positions, both in this country and in India. He was born in 1831, and after studying at Guy's Hospital entered the Indian Medical Service in 1854. He served with the Maywar Bheel Corps during the Indian Mutiny, and subsequently advanced step by step, being Deputy Surgeon-General at the time of his retirement. Prior to this he had been Professor of Medicine at Calcutta.
